RESTAURANT

Nestled beneath the canopy of majestic, century-old mango trees, our restaurant offers a tranquil escape where the shade and beauty of nature enhance your dining experience.

The restaurant welcomes a mix of individual travellers, tour groups visiting sites like Sierra Negra, and, of course, guests staying at our campsite.

To ensure the best possible experience, we kindly ask that non-camping guests call ahead to make a reservation. For a more personalised touch, please let us know the number of guests, any dietary preferences, restrictions, or allergies in advance.

As an ecolodge committed to minimising our environmental footprint, this also helps us reduce food waste by preparing only what is needed.

Authentic flavours of Isabela, crafted by Sonia

Sonia, the heart of the lodge’s kitchen, has been delighting guests with her delicious, simple, and honest home-cooked meals for over 14 years. Born and raised on Isla Isabela, her life is deeply rooted in the island’s flavours and traditions. As the life partner of Michuy, the owner of Campo Duro, and mother of five, Sonia’s connection to the land and community runs deep.

Her culinary journey began with her mother, who taught her to cook using fresh, local ingredients. Sonia’s kitchen is still infused with those island traditions. Over the years, she has also learned from Michuy, who hails from mainland Ecuador, incorporating some of his techniques and flavours into her cooking. This fusion of island traditions and mainland influences makes every meal uniquely delicious.

Sonia takes great pride in preparing meals that are not only flavourful but also beautifully presented—always simple, honest, and made with love. Using vibrant herbs and fresh garnishes, her dishes offer guests a true taste of the island’s natural flavours.

Organic and locally grown

At Campo Duro, we offer a menu that is both delicious and sustainable. All fruits, vegetables, eggs, and chicken are locally and organically grown.

To minimize our environmental impact, fish and shrimp are served only occasionally—typically as an alternative to vegetarian dishes or chicken, or for guests staying longer periods.

Almost entirely self-sufficient, we source most of our ingredients directly from our own garden and land, ensuring fresh, flavourful meals while supporting local ecosystems.

Our famous oven-roasted chicken

Our signature oven-roasted chicken is organically farmed and prepared in our unique tortoise-shaped lava stone oven. The oven is pre-heated using wood from the guava tree, an invasive species the islands are actively working to eradicate. This not only helps reduce the spread of guava but also infuses the chicken with an incredible aroma from the wood.

The combination of flavourful, free-range chicken — raised on a natural diet of plants, corn, and insects — fresh herbs from our garden, and the distinct fragrance of guava wood and lava stone creates a dish that is both sustainable and unforgettable.

Fresh fruit juices and coconuts

Seasonal, fresh fruit juices are a refreshing treat, made mostly from the wide variety of fruits grown right here on our land. We cultivate a rich selection of fruit trees, including mango, papaya, passion fruit, banana, plantain, guava, cherimoya, soursop, orange, lime, grosella, mulberry, rose apples, and plenty of coconut palms.
